Go Team ABC!!!
Several Team ABC coaches, athletes, and friends competed in the qualifying round of ABS 14 Adult Open Nationals in Colorado Springs yesterday. We are proud to say that Megan Mascarenas, Garrett Gregor, Michael O’Rourke, and Rob D’Anastasio will be advancing to Semifinals today. Matt Lubar gave a good run, ending up in a heartbreaking 21st place, making him first out of Semis. Next year Matt!
We are also excited to watch our friends Daniel Woods, Paul Robinson, Josh Levin, Sierra Blair-Coyle, Matty Hong, and all the other great athletes who will be competing today!
Here are the ABC results from Qualifiers. 40 women and 77 men competed. Top 22 women and 20 men qualified for semis (they took more women because of ties):

Here are some more photos and the highlights video from last weekend’s SBC Pro Tour. Most are from Beau Kahler, and you can see his whole album on facebook at – UBC Pro Tour Seattle 2012
Again congratulations to Mike O’Rourke for his 3rd place finish!
43 men entered the Men’s Pro Open category at the Seattle Bouldering Challenge Pro, a Unified Bouldering Challenge Pro Open Tour stop event. This is the first time this event has been in Seattle, and the purse was huge! $10,000 total for the open categories!
Of the 43 male entrants, only 20 advanced to semifinals. Team ABC had three representatives at the comp. Coach Rob D’Anastasio, who qualified in 4th; Coach Garrett Gregor, who qualified in 10th; and Elite Team athlete Michael O’Rourke, who qualified in 13th.
After semis the field was moved around considerably, with Coach Rob D’Anastasio finishing in 10th and Coach Garrett Gregor finishing in 16th.
Michael was in 5th after semifinals, so he was one of 6 men to go on to finals.
The scores were constantly updating and there was no live feed so it was hard to tell what was happening from moment to moment, but when all was said and done Michael had climbed very well and ended up in a very proud 3rd place.
Great job Michael!!!
Here are the scores from the finals.
Nice job to all who competed, especially Josh Larson who has taken his first major pro comp win. The scores are very close and it’s clear that all the competitors gave great efforts.

We are proud and happy to announce that Team ABC athlete Megan Mascarenas flashed her final to complete her four-comp winning streak and make her the uncontested SBS 7 Champion. This means that in the last 4 Spot events Megan has performed at the highest level of any female competitor. Nice job Megan!
Garrett Gregor won his first SBS Series Comp by giving a sound flash attempt on the problem that gave him control of a highpoint that was not surpassed by any subsequent competitor. Garrett has made finals several times this season but this was his first win. To read more check out Gladiator Finals Open Final Results! « The Spot Route Setting Blog.
In total Team ABC Boulder had 4 girls and 1 coach in the 12-person open final at The Gladiator Finals at The Spot on Saturday. The Gladiator Finals was the last in the four-comp SBS 7 series that also included The Gun Show, Psychedelia, and the Highline/Highball competition. The other girls who made finals were Laurel Todd, Margo Hayes, and Isabelle Goodacre. All three girls had personal-best Spot redpoint comps by completing 5 O problems including problem O7 during the redpoint round. Laurel and Margo won their categories and Isabelle took 2nd to Margo by 2 falls. In the final the girls climbed in the first 3 positions and ended up placing 4th (Laurel) 5th (Isabelle) and 6th (Margo). Nice job girls!
Many other Team ABC Boulder and ABC for kids athletes climbed in the event. We will post further results and a rundown later this week, but until then here are the unofficial youth results from the Spot website – http://www.thespotgym.com/Files/PDFs/gladYouth.pdf – please review the results and if you have any questions or contestations please email firstname.lastname@example.org by Wednesday afternoon.
